Game recap: Simpson Academy wins against Lee Academy

MENDENHALL, Miss. - Simpson Academy (Mendenhall, Miss.) snapped the four-game winning streak of Lee Academy (Clarksdale, Miss.), with a 40-9 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, the Cougars were up 27-4 at the half.

Simpson Academy grew its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. SA scored two times in the third, including once on an Berry touchdown run.

Mason Herrin and Daniel Taylor ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Colts. Herrin scored two touchdowns on the ground and Taylor added two as well.

Lee Academy's only touchdown came on a 20-yard pass in the fourth quarter.



Lee Academy came in allowing just 14.5 points per game this season. LA had a hard time against Simpson Academy's offense, which entered the game scoring 29.0 points per game. The Cougars had given up an average of 7.9 points prior to the contest.

The defeat comes as a step back for Lee Academy, which notched a 35-27 victory over Canton Academy in its previous outing.
