Basketball Recap: Wawasee Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Stephen Akase and Kaden Andrew

Wawasee extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-2. They fell 48-41 to the Angola Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 45-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Wawasee's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaden Andrew, who posted 11 points, and Stephen Akase, who put up ten points.

As for Angola, their record now sits at 1-0. The game was the first time they have beaten Wawasee on their court since November 30, 2019.

Angola was led to victory by Jacob Fraley and Ryan Stuckey. Fraley went 6-for-9 to rack up 16 points, while Stuckey scored eight points in addition to six boards and three steals. Those 16 points gave Fraley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Niles Knox, who earned seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Coming up, Wawasee will look to defend their home court on Friday against Manchester at 7:45 p.m. As for Angola, they are taking a road trip to challenge Central Noble at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Hornets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
