Basketball Game Preview: Thatcher Eagles vs. Morenci Wildcats

Thatcher and Morenci are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Thatcher Eagles just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Morenci Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Thatcher sitting on three straight wins and Morenci on ten.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Thatcher duked it out withEmpire on Tuesday. Thatcher came out on top against Empire by a score of 84-74.

Meanwhile, Morenci humbled Santa Rita with a 77-47 victory. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Eagles are ranked 311th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thatcher is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Morenci, they pushed their record up to 24-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home.

Thatcher came up short against Morenci when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 54-45.
