Softball Recap: Ansonia Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Ansonia and Covington squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Ansonia had to settle for second. They lost 14-3 to the Buccs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since April 17th.

Addie Geyer and Shyann McKenna stepped up to the plate in a big way. Geyer went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while McKenna went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The loss snapped Ansonia's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-12 record. As for Covington, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Buccs beat Ansonia by a score of 14-3 later that day.
