Sutter is a perfect 7-0 against River Valley since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Huskies will square off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Sutter has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 3.
Casa Roble hit Sutter with a seven-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies came up short against the Rams, falling 10-4.
Lexi Callison made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kara Roper, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, River Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Yuba City on Tuesday, taking the game 8-3.
Payton Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alexis Otero and Emylee Hull did most of the damage at the plate: Otero went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Hull went 2-for-4 with one home run. That's the most hits Otero has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
River Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
River Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Sutter, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
Sutter took their victory against River Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
