Recap: Lincoln Trojans vs. Florida State University High School Seminoles
It was a good run, but the Lincoln Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Florida State University High School by a score of 24-22. Lincoln lost against Florida State University High School in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 10-9 score last time.
Lincoln's loss came despite strong showings from Christian Sims and Jashawn Washington. Sims rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown, while Washington rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry.
Among those leading the charge was Jeremy Johnston, who threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Florida State University High School also got a significant boost from Jayden Threatts, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 101 yards.
Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Florida State University High School, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will take on Matanzas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Matanzas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Lincoln is ranked 42nd). As for Florida State University High School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marianna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
