Football Game Preview: Eastside Blazers vs. Fremont Eagles

Eastside has gone a perfect 9-0 against Fremont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Blazers will square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Eastside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 29.3 points per game this season.

Eastside's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 42-0 victory over Prairie Heights. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Blazers just coasted through the last quarter.

Eastside's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Job Richman, who rushed for 122 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and Noah Dove, who gained 160 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Richman posted three passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Eastside was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 320 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in 15 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Eastside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gage Fogle and Jake Warstler. Fogle has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Fremont came up short against Churubusco, falling 36-14. The matchup was a close 8-6 at the break, but unfortunately for Fremont it sure didn't stay that way.

Eastside has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.8 points on average over those games. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Eastside against Fremont in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 38-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blazers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
