Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fargo North). They came out on top against the Detroit Lakes Lakers by a score of 97-86 on Saturday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in North Dakota, while the Lakers are ranked 231st in Minnesota), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fargo North's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Detroit Lakes, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fargo North will welcome Grand Forks Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Detroit Lakes, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Little Falls at 7:15 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
