Softball Recap: De Kalb Continues Home Dominance on Friday

De Kalb made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Queen City, but they still couldn't quite topple them. De Kalb put the hurt on Queen City with a sharp 10-1 victory on Friday. Considering the Bears have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaydee Brown was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Addison Starrett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Caylin Corbett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

De Kalb pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Queen City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Coincidentally, De Kalb and Queen City will both be playing Hooks the next time they take the field. De Kalb will head out to face Hooks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Queen City will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
