Basketball Game Preview: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. Vista Murrieta Broncos

The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks will head out to take on the Vista Murrieta Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Murrieta Valley came up short against Murrieta Mesa and fell 64-57. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Nighthawks came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Rams are ranked 621st).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Vista Murrieta, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Great Oak with a sharp 75-50 victory on Friday. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 23 points or more this season.

Vista Murrieta's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.0 points per game. As for Murrieta Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Murrieta Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Vista Murrieta when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with an 87-81 victory.
