Cameron is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Barron a seven-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Cameron Comets will be playing at home against the Barron Golden Bears at 4:30 p.m. Cameron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Cameron nor St. Croix Falls made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Comets never let the Saints get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Comets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Not much got past Emerson Krahenbuhl, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep St. Croix Falls off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubree Kreier, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rayna Schroeder, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
Meanwhile, Barron posted their closest win since May 6, 2025 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Ashland 12-11. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Oredockers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Madalyn Kallsen was excellent, going a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Cimfl, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs.
Barron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Cameron's win bumped their record up to 15-10-1. As for Barron, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
Barron's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cameron has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Barron, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Cameron's sizable advantage in that area, the Golden Bears will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cameron got the 'W' when the teams last played on May 5th against Barron by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Golden Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
