Baseball Recap: Arcadia Comes Up Short

Arcadia extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-3. They came up short against the Elmwood Royals, falling 15-4. The Redskins were not able to make up for their loss to the Royals from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Elmwood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3. Considering they have won three games by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Elmwood's part, they got a great performance from Gabe Schafer as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Abraham Keiffer was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Elmwood's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Carter Goetz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Arcadia will square off against Cory-Rawson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.25 runs per game on average), something the Redskins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elmwood, they will challenge Eastwood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
