Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Coyotes vs. Alonso Ravens

The Cypress Creek Coyotes will face off against the Alonso Ravens at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Cypress Creek lost 84-59 to Wesley Chapel on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Wildcats are ranked 192nd).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Manuel Castro, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Brady Pineo was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Cypress Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Alonso took on Leto on Friday. Alonso took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Leto. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (56), the Ravens still had to take the loss.

This is the second loss in a row for Alonso and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for Cypress Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Cypress Creek won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, slipping by Alonso 43-42. Does Cypress Creek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alonso turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
