Basketball Recap: Dominik Konarski Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Stargate School

The Academy proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 29) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 win over the Stargate School Eagles. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

The Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominik Konarski out in front who went 9-for-15 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Boychuk, who went 7-for-16 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds.

Stargate School's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Roark, who posted 19 points. The match was Roark's third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Connor Rusch, who scored 14 points.

The Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Stargate School, they now also have a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, The Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Arrupe Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. Arrupe Jesuit is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. As for Stargate School, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-79 win against Bishop Machebeuf on the 15th.
