Baseball Recap: Castro Valley Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Castro Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the San Leandro Pirates an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Castro Valley got a great performance from Scott Baldwin as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Baldwin has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on David Colon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Seidel, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Castro Valley's record now sits at 9-3. As for San Leandro, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6.

Coming up, Castro Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Hayward at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for San Leandro, they will head out to take on San Lorenzo at 4:00 p.m. on the 9th.
