Baseball Recap: Pickens' Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Pickens's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Blue Flame as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Pickens got a great performance from Lucas Torres as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Torres has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jayden Ferguson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Cam Wilson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Pickens' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.

Pickens will have a chance to go back-to-back against Blue Ridge: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
