Basketball Game Preview: Laurel Golden Tornadoes vs. Biloxi Indians

The Laurel Golden Tornadoes are taking a road trip to face off against the Biloxi Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Biloxi will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Laurel extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Golden Tornadoes claimed a resounding 73-28 victory over Hattiesburg. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-16.

Laurel got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jahyla Dubose out in front who went 7-for-11 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. Dubose is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracelyn Carmichael, who shot 62% from the field to rack up 19 points along with five boards and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Laurel was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Biloxi against Pascagoula on Tuesday as the squad secured a 63-10 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Biloxi's win came from a few key players Laurel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Na'Kenya Terry, who posted eight points in addition to ten steals and five assists. Those ten steals gave her a new career-high. Jayla Carriere was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Laurel's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Biloxi, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
