Basketball Recap: Toombs County Drops Season-High Score on Woodville-Tompkins

Toombs County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines. One positive for the Bulldogs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Bland, who posted 13 points and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Brinley Miller, who had nine points.

Cassidy Freeman was a one-woman wrecking crew for Woodville-Tompkins as she went 8 for 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 30 points and three steals. Those 30 points gave Freeman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Armstrong, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points and six blocks.

Toombs County's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Woodville-Tompkins, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Toombs County beat Woodville-Tompkins by a score of 45-34 on Wednesday.
