Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. Cumberland Clippers

The Mt. Hope Huskies will venture away from home to take on the Cumberland Clippers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumberland took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mt. Hope, who comes in off a win.

Mt. Hope is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Smithfield, who was ranked 21st at the time (Mt. Hope was ranked 24th). Mt. Hope snuck past Smithfield with a 49-44 win on Friday.

Meanwhile, Cumberland was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 49-43 to East Greenwich.

Cumberland's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Mt. Hope, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Things could have been worse for Mt. Hope, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-36 loss to Cumberland when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Mt. Hope avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
