Baseball Game Preview: Globe Tigers vs. Coolidge Bears

Globe is on an 11-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Coolidge a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Globe Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Coolidge Bears at 4:00 p.m. Globe will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Globe made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hayden, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers put the hurt on the Lobos with a sharp 15-4 victory on Saturday. Globe's win was all the more impressive since the Lobos were averaging only 3.1 runs allowed on the season.

Sir Sneezy was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Globe is 2-1 when Sneezy posts ten or more strikeouts, but 6-8 otherwise. Sneezy was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Globe got a massive performance out of Jaeger Franco, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Franco is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Tyson Reede was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Coolidge lost 24-2 to Valley Christian on Monday.

Maurice Glass was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Globe's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Coolidge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Globe took their win against Coolidge in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 13-4 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
