Recap: Wootton Patriots vs. Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons

The Wootton Patriots were the 62-53 winner over the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Wootton was dealt a 72-43 defeat at the hands of Bethesda-Chevy Chase on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wootton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Bethesda-Chevy Chase is ranked 28th).

Bethesda-Chevy Chase's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elisha Robinson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven assists and six steals. Robinson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Tercyak, who scored 17 points along with three steals.

Wootton's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4. As for Bethesda-Chevy Chase, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wootton will take on Whitman at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Whitman is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. Bethesda-Chevy Chase will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Churchill at 7:15 p.m. on January 8th.
