The Antonito Trojans will take on the Dove Creek Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Antonito took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Non Varsity Opponent.

Rylan Trant made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Octavian Martinez was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Shyanne Martinez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Dove Creek had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bears.
Like Antonito, Dove Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Cael Beanland. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Beanland was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Dove Creek: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Kibel, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Dove Creek is 6-2 when Kibel posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankey Montoya, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Dove Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Antonito's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Dove Creek, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
