Preview: Yorktown Patriots vs. South Lakes Seahawks
Yorktown is 1-7 against South Lakes since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yorktown Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the South Lakes Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Yorktown earned a 14-3 win over Herndon.
Yorktown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Montecino, who picked up 124 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, South Lakes put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Westfield with a 28-24 win.
South Lakes relied on the efforts of James Zschunke, who picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Nick Harris, who threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns.
Yorktown's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for South Lakes, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Things could have been worse for Yorktown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 36-21 loss to South Lakes in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Thankfully for Yorktown, Anthony Giordano (who rushed for 303 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
