Softball Recap: Lawrence Comes Up Short

Lawrence extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-4 in the process. They came up short against the Haverhill Hillies, falling 22-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Lancers were not able to get on the board.

As for Haverhill, they now have a winning record of 4-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Haverhill's part, Ava Moscaritolo (2027) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Moscaritolo (2027) was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Haverhill let Emma Proia (2027) and Molly Tabb (2025) run wild. Proia (2027) went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Tabb (2025) got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Proia (2027) has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Mizzaglia (2025), who went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence will head out to take on North Andover at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Haverhill, they will face off against Pentucket Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
