Basketball Recap: Laiana Mcclinton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Largo over Keswick Christian

Largo lost against Keswick Christian back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Largo Packers came up short against the Keswick Christian Crusaders, falling 50-26. While losing is never fun, the Packers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Crusaders are ranked 132nd).

Several Packers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laiana McClinton, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Leka, who scored six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Largo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Leading Keswick Christian to victory were Abby Fischer and Kenyan Heuertz. Fischer put up seven points along with eight assists and five steals, while Heuertz earned ten points and six boards. Those eight assists gave Fischer a new career-high. Ava Ross was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Largo moved to 7-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Keswick Christian, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Largo will host Calvary Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calvary Christian will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Largo surely won't give up without a fight. As for Keswick Christian, they will head out to take on Bradenton Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keswick Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.
