Basketball Recap: Lincoln Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lincoln had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 32-28 W against the Mt. Zion Braves. Given the Railsplitters' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Braves are ranked 359th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lincoln's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karson Komnick led the charge by putting up ten points and seven rebounds. Tate Aue was another key player, scoring eight points and five boards.

Lincoln's record is now 19-4. As for Mt. Zion, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Looking ahead, Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rock Island at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Railsplitters will need to watch out since the Rocks have now posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups. As for Mt. Zion, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Tolono Unity at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
