League recap: Elkhart tops Sublette to extend winning streak

Hi-Plains recap October 8, 2013

Elkhart added to the longest winning streak in Hi-Plains this week by beating Sublette, 48-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Wildcats.

Stanton County fell to Meade 60-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jeremy Amerin ran for 85 yards in the loss.

Juston Hurn had a great week catching the football as Elkhart defeated the Larks. He caught 4 passes for 210 yards.

Alex Gomez threw for 270 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 8-20 with 1 interception.

Hurn was the best wideout in the league this week as Khris Buckner's team beat Sublette. Hurn tallied 4 receptions for 210 yards. AJ Mckinley helped Elkhart's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 57 yards.

The Wildcats' Gomez and Hurn led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Gomez has thrown for 1,214 yards this season, while Hurn has 24 catches for 771 yards. The Buffaloes' Jett Little leads the league in rushing yards with 728.

An important game coming up in Hi-Plains this week will be when Elkhart takes on Cimarron. The Wildcats are currently in first, while the Bluejays are in fourth.

Meade led the league in scoring this week by notching 60 points on Stanton County. Little threw for 97 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 131 yards during the win.
