Volleyball Recap: Upper Scioto Valley Comes Up Short

Upper Scioto Valley lost against Ridgedale back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rams fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 3-2. While the Rams didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rockets 25-17 in the first set.

Upper Scioto Valley wouldn't go down easily and took Ridgedale into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Raegan Castle paced Upper Scioto Valley's offense, picking up nine kills. Castle got some help from Audrey Lawrence and her 23 assists. Castle and Lawrence didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Upper Scioto Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Ridgedale, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.

Upper Scioto Valley has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Van Buren on the 20th. As for Ridgedale, they will take on Hardin Northern at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
