The Shasta Wolves will face off against the Foothill Cougars at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Last Friday, Shasta made easy work of Red Bluff and carried off a 10-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wolves have posted against the Spartans since April 25, 2023.
Landon Kidd looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Shasta got a big performance out of Owen Krieder, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Owen Boesiger was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Enterprise a 16-0 shutout on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Enterprise's batters probably weren't too happy with Kayden Williams, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up a single walk).
At the plate, Will Baker was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Modesitt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Shasta's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Foothill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shasta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
