Football Recap: Fort Wayne Wayne Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Wayne extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were dealt a 51-7 defeat at the hands of the Fort Wayne North Side Legends. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Legends are ranked 109th).

Fort Wayne Wayne's loss came despite strong showings from Tyree Eldridge and Jayce White. Eldridge picked up 123 receiving yards and one TD, while White threw for 142 yards and one touchdown. Eldridge also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Fort Wayne Wayne didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Dereyon Evans, Makhi Muf, and Eldridge picked up one apiece. Evans is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Fort Wayne North Side, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season.

Fort Wayne North Side's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaydin Rivers, who threw for 330 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt, and also punched in one rushing score. Rivers is becoming a predictor of the Legends' success: when he posts at least 300 passing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Caleb Kiengele helped Rivers out on the ground, rushing for 67 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Coming up, Fort Wayne Wayne will challenge Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals will be up against the Cadets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Fort Wayne North Side, they will take on Fort Wayne South Side at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Legends will be up against the Archers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.83 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
