Softball Recap: Hoopa Valley Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hoopa Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Ferndale Wildcats by a score of 10-5 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in April, they had to take a 11-9 loss.

Monteya Colegrove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hoopa Valley let Kalia Mitchell and Roxy Colegrove run wild. Mitchell got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Colegrove went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Mitchell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rikki Lipscomb, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hoopa Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Ferndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hoopa Valley beat the Wildcats by a score of 10-0 later that day.
