Softball Recap: Southeast Whitfield County Gets the Win

Southeast Whitfield County's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Christian Heritage Lions 5-4. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Summer Maddron spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rylee Shuler was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Destiney Kenemore was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Southeast Whitfield County's win bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Christian Heritage, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Southeast Whitfield County will head out to challenge Cass at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonels' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Christian Heritage, they will be playing at home against Fannin County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
