Baseball Recap: Monroe Township Triumphs

While Monroe Township didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Red Bank Catholic Caseys on Sunday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Aadi Shah spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ben Faigin, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Monroe Township is undefeated when Faigin posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Robert Profaci also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Monroe Township's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Red Bank Catholic, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe Township will host St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Red Bank Catholic, they will welcome Howell at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Caseys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
