Softball Recap: Schulenburg Sets Scoring Season-High Against Louise

Schulenburg scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Louise Hornets by a score of 33-32. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (17), the Shorthorns still had to take the loss.

Summer Livingston was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all seven of her plate appearances with six runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those six runs gave her a new career-high. Audrey Woytek was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-6.

Even though they lost, Schulenburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Schulenburg's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-14-1. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Louise, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Coming up, Schulenburg will challenge Moulton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Moulton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.73 runs per game on average), something Schulenburg will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Louise, they will square off against Ganado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
