Basketball Recap: Isac Tamayo Key Part of Team Effort in Buffaloes Win

Gibbon won the last time they faced Ravenna and things went their way on Thursday too. The Gibbon Buffaloes took down the Ravenna Bluejays 79-65. With that win, the Buffaloes brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Gibbon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isac Tamayo led the charge by going 9-for-17 en route to 24 points along with five assists and four steals. Tamayo is becoming a predictor of Gibbon's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 5-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tyler Weismann, who posted 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists.

Gibbon's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for Ravenna, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.

Coming up, Gibbon will face off against Overton at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st. Overton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
