Softball Game Preview: Baraboo Thunderbirds vs. Portage Warriors

Baraboo and Portage are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Thunderbirds will host the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Baraboo is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Baraboo came up short against McFarland and fell 8-4.

Zeva Valley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Cognac, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Portage, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Stoughton by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Ally Saloun spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, Portage saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Portage's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Baraboo, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
