Basketball Game Preview: Thacher Toads vs. Buena Park Coyotes

The Thacher Toads will take on the Buena Park Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Tuesday, Thacher came up short against Foothill Tech and fell 53-42.

Meanwhile, Buena Park won against Santa Ana last Tuesday with 60 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. Buena Park took down Santa Ana 60-43. Winning may never get old, but the Coyotes sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Buena Park's win came from a few key players Thacher will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emmanuel Charagu, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. He is becoming a predictor of Buena Park's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is 3-1 (and 5-19 when he doesn't). Ernesto Portas was another key player, putting up 17 points and eight boards.

Buena Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Thacher's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points over those games. As for Buena Park, their win bumped their record up to 8-20.
