Basketball Recap: Beaufort Academy Comes Up Short

Beaufort Academy lost against Bethesda Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Beaufort Academy Eagles took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bethesda Academy Blazers. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Beaufort Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Nycholas Underwood went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Underwood. Wilson Salley also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebounds of the season.

Israel Wright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bethesda Academy, going 7 for 11 en route to 24 points and five boards. Wright's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ranier Whipple Ii, who posted seven points.

Beaufort Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Bethesda Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-8.

Beaufort Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cross at 7:30 p.m. Beaufort Academy is facing Cross at the right time seeing as Cross is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bethesda Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-50 loss against Savannah Country Day on the 18th.
