Football Recap: Lone Star Skates Past Heritage with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lone Star). They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 54-7 win over the Heritage Coyotes. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Rangers just coasted through the last quarter.

Trey Wright produced another solid performance rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 270 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 93.3% of his passes. Rece Hoyt was in the mix too, providing Lone Star with three scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lone Star was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lone Star's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Marcel Dominguez and Colsen Jaggars, who racked up five sacks between them. Dominguez is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Lone Star's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for Heritage, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
