Basketball Recap: Lighthouse Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Audrey Eason and Ellie Mae Winders

Lighthouse Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. The contest between them and the Cannelton Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Lighthouse Christian Academy Lions falling 46-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 41-39 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Lighthouse Christian Academy had strong showings from Ellie Mae Winders, who went 8 for 15 en route to 19 points and seven boards, and Audrey Eason, who posted six points and nine rebounds. That was a full 67.9% of Lighthouse Christian Academy's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Adri Mckeel also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

Cannelton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Anastasiades, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Anastasiades has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hale, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals.

Lighthouse Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Cannelton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season.

Lighthouse Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-19 defeat against South Spencer on the 25th. As for Cannelton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-12 loss against Christian Academy on the 28th.
