Basketball Recap: Seminole County's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Seminole County fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Cairo on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 62-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cairo Syrupmakers. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Indians, who fell 61-58 when the teams last met back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Seminole County still got an impressive performance from Kamauri Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Beard, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Seminole County moved to 8-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Cairo, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12.

Seminole County will host Miller County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seminole County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season. As for Cairo, they will head out on the road to challenge Westover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Westover's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Cairo has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
