Basketball Recap: Chatham Charter Takes a Loss

Chatham Charter lost against Providence Grove back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Chatham Charter Knights took a blow against the Providence Grove Patriots, falling 60-24.

Despite the loss, Chatham Charter had strong showings from Kynzie Jordan, who posted eight points and six rebounds, and Abby Clark, who had four points. The dominant performance gave Jordan a new career-high in points.

Providence Grove found their leader in sophomore Laurel Bernhardt, who made all 8 shots she took for 17 points and seven steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Bernhardt. Another player making a difference was Jada Nixon, who put up seven points.

Chatham Charter has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Providence Grove, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Uwharrie Charter Academy the next time they take the court. Providence Grove will host Uwharrie Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Chatham Charter will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
