Football Recap: Cross Stingrays vs. Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders
Cross had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-8 to make it seven. They had to suffer through a 48-6 loss at the hands of the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-6 back in August.
As for Jefferson Davis Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four contests by 30 points or more so far this season.
Jefferson Davis Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Harrison Ray, who picked up 155 receiving yards and three scores. Ray also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making five total tackles. Gregory Lihan was another key rusher, rushing for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Cross will take on Holly Hill Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Stingrays will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they will face off against King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
