Softball Recap: Calvert Gets the Win

Calvert's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Patuxent Panthers a 14-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cavaliers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Ellie Ford was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Emily Milam, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Calvert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patuxent only posted an OBP of .167.

The victory got Calvert back to even at 1-1. As for Patuxent, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Calvert will challenge rival Westlake on Friday. Meanwhile, Patuxent is set to take on their familiar foe Huntingtown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
