South Fork is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Morningside Academy is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Thursday, South Fork needed a bit of extra time to put away Treasure Coast. They had just enough and edged out the Titans 5-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Mackenzie Brown spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emma Ortiz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
South Fork hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Morningside Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bayside on Tuesday. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bears 10-9. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Trinity Richards, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
South Fork's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Morningside Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Fork hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Morningside Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went South Fork's way against Morningside Academy in their previous meeting on Monday, as South Fork made off with an 18-1 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
