Softball Recap: Hudson Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hudson and Stow-Munroe Falls, and Stow-Munroe Falls kept the tradition alive. The Explorers came up short against the Bulldogs on Monday, falling 16-6. If the Explorers were looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Eva Masiella and Bailey Deutsch did some serious damage despite the final result: Masiella scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Deutsch scored a run while going 1-for-2. Those stolen bases were Masiella's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Corinne Stearns, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hudson's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-6. Those road defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Stow-Munroe Falls, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Looking ahead, Hudson will face off against Twinsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Stow-Munroe Falls, they will challenge Nordonia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
