Baseball Recap: Ridgeview Gets the Win

Ridgeview had won three straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped up to 4-0 to make it four. They won by a run and slipped past the Middleburg Broncos 6-5. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Gabe Torres tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Isaac Alvarez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was James Norton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Middleburg, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Ridgeview: they've now lost four in a row.

On Middleburg's side, Jackson Ingram made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. With that strong performance, Ingram is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Trent Peacock was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Ridgeview will have a chance to go back-to-back against Middleburg: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
