Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Holy Names Academy

There's no place like home for the Roosevelt Roughriders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Saturday. They rang in the new year with a 63-53 victory over Holy Names Academy on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 23-23 at the break, but Roosevelt was the better team in the second half.

Roosevelt was led to victory by Adia Tseng and Emma Curtis. Tseng scored 19 points, while Curtis dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Tseng scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Hall, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 7-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Holy Names Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Roosevelt will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeside at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Roosevelt likes a good challenge. As for Holy Names Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Foster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
