Preview: Oxford Chargers vs. Calhoun City Wildcats
Oxford is 10-0 against Calhoun City since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The pair will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oxford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 482 points over their last seven contests.
Oxford pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Creekside Christian Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (57), Oxford still had to take the loss.
Calhoun City can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They strolled past Creekside with points to spare, taking the game 68-50. Given Calhoun City's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 68th in Mississippi, while Creekside is ranked 412th in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oxford's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Calhoun City, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Oxford didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Calhoun City in their previous matchup on Friday, but they still walked away with a 75-70 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oxford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
