Baseball Recap: Mulberry Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mulberry walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Eustis on Thursday, sneaking past 5-4. This was a revenge game for Mulberry: when they faced off against Eustis on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-6 loss.

Coby Anker looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nic Partridge was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Medina, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mulberry has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eustis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.

Mulberry will look to defend their home field on Monday against Pine Ridge at 7:00 p.m. Eustis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
